TIME OUT – from boredom to the search for happiness

TIME OUT – There was a time when as parents, we discussed the growing phenomenon of children SAYING “I am BORED”. It appeared that gone were the days when children could amuse themselves with anything from a pallet stick, to a stone, to a cardboard box, to playing with imaginary friends.

As that conversation dwindled, I am a bit concerned and yet pleased with the current conversation that is taking place, in which the self same parents and their offspring, are actively seeking knowledge on how to make themselves HAPPY and engaging in challenges to be happy for an ongoing period.

Perhaps we should pause and reflect on what this means for us as parents in today’s environment and what does it imply for the next generation of parents, our children’s children And if we are not comfortable with the implication, is their anything we can do to stem it?

Perhaps the overarching message is in fact the need for us all to become more self aware and to come to terms with the fact that we create our own reality.
