I find it peculiar when people comment that they know all they need to know about a subject – that they are already a resident expert! Today I had a beautiful revelation that reminded me that (i) each day provides us with the opportunity to learn something new, if we are open and receptive and (ii) the importance of taking “Time Out” to be still.
As I sat on a friends verandah for the second time in recent weeks, admiring the hummingbirds fluttering from feeder to feeder, busy as we know them to be, I asked him, “have you ever held a hummingbird in your hand?” In the back of my mind was the real question, “are hummingbirds ever still?”
And as if they had heard me and all on cue, the hummingbirds each became still at their respective feeders!!!! It was a really wow moment …. even the hummingbirds appreciate the power in stillness.
As leaders, we too must remember to create that time for oursleves and our teams to be still. There is a productivity in silence.
