Time Out ……… what is the lesson to be learnt

Marianne Williamson in her course on miracles asks “What is the gift — and have I given thanks for it?” And, “What is the lesson — and am I learning it?” As I read these questions, my mind went back to a Time Out that I had taken in the midst of an event. It was an event that many would, if given the choice have preferred not to be present. I had essentially just gone with the flow. As I sat there surrounded by a throng of people, primarily strangers, I asked myself – why am I here? What is the gift in this situation? What is the lesson to be learnt? The answer emerged.

I knew that when I read the extract from Marianne Williamson at the end of the week, I was again being called to reflect on that situation. So I did. Again the answer emerged, this time with greater clarity and I knew that follow up action was necessary.

If we were to take a Time Out to reflect on our lives, we will discover that there are certain events that repeat themselves time and time again. The reality is that we are given the opportunity to make a different choice, each time the situation recurs. How many times do we in fact make the same choice and find ourselves moping in frustration at the outcome – again.

Join me for a Time Out ……. the intentional cessation of an incomplete task either September 9th to 11th or September 16th to 18th, when we switch off our cell phones, cable, internet and just take a Time Out to reflect, introspect and capture learnings..
